At least five major explosions were reported in Dubai on Tuesday morning as residents fled to shelters. The UAE authorities said they were "actively engaging" with the threat.

Euronews journalists in Dubai report that at least five major explosions have shaken the city on Tuesday morning in an Iranian missile and drone strike on the city.

Reports are coming in of residents rushing to underground shelters as the blasts appear to be different from air defence intercepts or sonic booms, or any previous Iranian strikes on Dubai.

Images from Dubai this morning appear to show smoke billowing in the distance, but the exact location of the strikes is unknown. No reports of damage or casualties are available at this time.

"UAE air defences system is actively engaging with missiles and UAV threats," the defence ministry said in a statement on X.
