In Albergaria-a-Velha, residents were evacuated after rising waters and landslide risks affected rural parishes, while dozens of roads were closed in surrounding municipalities.

Authorities said river levels rose significantly, flooding local routes and isolating some residents.

Near Coimbra, part of the A1 motorway collapsed after water eroded an embankment following a breach in a Mondego River dike.

Drone images showed floodwaters spreading across nearby land, with officials warning of continued flooding and instability as weather conditions persisted.
