(Reuters) – Germany’s Siemens <SIEGn.DE> will supply and install equipment for two converter stations as part of the Viking Link project, Britain’s National Grid <NG.L> and Energinet of Denmark announced on Tuesday.
The Siemens contracts have a combined value of 1.1 billion euros (£988.51 million), National Grid said in a statement http://media.nationalgrid.com/press-releases/uk-press-releases/corporate-news/national-grid-and-energinet-name-suppliers-for-uk-s-first-ever-power-cable-to-denmark.
The two converter stations will be built in Lincolnshire, England, and Revsing, Denmark.
Viking Link will be the first subsea electricity inter-connector between Britain and Denmark and have the capacity to power 1.5 million homes.
