WARSAW (Reuters) - Poland sees potential positive elements in remarks on the rule of law by the nominee to lead the European Commission, Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz said on Wednesday.
German politician Ursula von der Leyen, who has been picked by EU national leaders to head the bloc's executive, made her pitch to European lawmakers on Wednesday, promising to focus on promoting the rule of law, competitiveness, digitalisation and the fight against climate change.
Poland has been subject to an unprecedented EU rule-of-law procedure since end-2017 over reforms that Brussels has said undermine judicial independence.
