The country will elect a new parliament next month.

Danes will go to the polls next month to vote in a new parliament, the country's prime minister announced today. 

Lars Lokke Rasmussen told MPs the poll would be held on Wednesday, June 5.

Opinion polls suggest Rasmussen, from the centre-right Liberal Party, will lose power to Mette Frederiksen of the centre-left Social Democratic Party.
