Amy Klobucher becomes the latest candidate to join the race for the 2020 US presidential nomination.
US Senator Amy Klobucher has entered the 2020 presidential race, becoming the first moderate in an increasingly crowded field of Democrats vying to challenge Republican President Donald Trump.
"I stand before you as the granddaughter of an iron ore miner as the daughter of a teacher and a newspaper man, as the first woman elected to the United States Senate from the state of Minnesota to announce my candidacy for president of the United States," she confirmed at a rally.
A record total of five women have so far entered the race for the presidency including Senator Elizabeth Warren who on her first full day of presidential campaigning told supporters: "By the time we get to 2020, Donald Trump may not even be president."
