A snake covered with hundreds of ticks was saved by snake catchers in Australia
ADVERTISEMENTSnake catchers in Brisbane, Australia, came across a carpet python covered in more than 500 ticks.
Tony Harris, a local snake catcher, told Euronews that he found the serpent in a woman’s swimming pool where it was trying to drown the ticks.
“Pythons are usually very docile to start with and because of how weak this one was he didn’t put up any fight,” said Harris.
The snake catcher later took it to a wildlife centre for treatment.
Video posted on Facebook (available in the video player above) showed the snake covered in the parasites.
Harris said on social media that veterinarians worked for hours to remove the ticks but that there were still some under the snake's scales.
However, the snake was recovering well, he added.
