Ticket holders across Spain shared the spoils on Saturday from El Gordo or the Fat One, the world's largest lottery with prizes totalling more than 2.4 billion euros.

Holders of ticket number 03347 won the top prize of 680 million euros, but they still won't know exactly how much they've won as more than one person can buy into the same ticket number.

The grand draw, a huge annual tradition dating back to 1812, is made shortly before Christmas by schoolchildren.

Many people buy tickets in groups and companies and the lottery's complex rules - which allow for multiple purchases of the same number - mean it is not yet fully clear how this year's winnings will be distributed.
