Churches combine for campaign to save Peruvian rainforest
A consortium of churches are coming together to defend the Peruvian rainforest.
Catholic, Adventist, Muslim, Lutheran and Baha'i leaders are joining Amazonian tribal leaders in a campaign to tackle deforestation. Last year Pope Francis called for greater protection of the region's natural ressources.
Around 8,000 square kilometres of rainforest have been cut down in Peru alone this year.
