Raw Politics: Maroš Šefčovič puts forward his case for European Commission's top job

Already a Vice-President of the European Commission, Maroš Šefčovič has officially staked his claim for the top job.

The Slovak Social Democrat wants to be the lead candidate of the Social Democrats in next year's elections for the European Parliament, a role that would also make him the group's chosen successor to Jean-Claude Juncker.

He joined Tesa Arcilla in the studio to present his case, saying that as someone who has lived behind the Iron Curtain, he understands fully the threats being posed to democracy and argues that an "Eastern European" voice at the top would be a good thing for Europe as a whole.
