A veteran of 300 movies, the iconic actress was only 54 when she suffered a heart attack in Dubai.
Bollywood icon and actress Sridevi has died of a heart attack aged just 54. She could lay claim to being the Indian film industry's first female superstar, with 300 screen credits mostly in the 1980s and 90s.
She began acting aged four, and blazed a trail for a more assertive and independent kind of heroine in her roles.
"She was a versatile actress who was a great dancer, great performer, comedy, romance, you name it and she has done all kind of roles," said film director Madhur Bhandarkar.
Sridevi died while attending a family marriage in Dubai. She is survived by her husband Boney Kapoor and their two daughters.
