A least 63 people have been killed in Afghanistan and around 151 wounded after a suicide blast in Kabul.

Officials say the huge bomb was hidden in an ambulance and exploded in an area near foreign embassies and government buildings. The death toll is expected to rise.

The vehicle is reported to have detonated in an area closed to public transport after being driven past a police checkpoint.

The Taliban says it was behind the attack.

The bombing comes a week after the group killed more than 20 people at a luxury hotel in the Afghan capital.

It is the deadliest attack in Kabul in several months.
