On stage six of the Dakar Rally the race moved on from Peru to Bolivia.

On the faster circuit Carlos Sainz excelled in his Peugeot so much so that he managed to win the stage. The Spaish two-time World Rally champion used all his experience on the man-made surfaces to beat Frenchman Stephane Peterhansel by four minutes and Nasser Al-Attiyah by five minutes.

But Peterhansel - or Mr Dakar as the press have dubbed him - remains overall leader. The 13-time champion heads into the next stage with a 27-minute advantage over Sainz.

On two wheels it was Frenchman Antoine Meo who took the honours in stage six, pushing him up to overall sixth in the motorbike class after he rode his Factory KTM to finish 30 minutes quicker than overall leader Kevin Benavides of Argentina.
