From 'long-time friend' to a legal battle in just over two months. Trump's lawyers serve his former Chief Strategist with a cease-and-desist notice.

Just two and a half months ago, Donald Trump called him "a long-time friend" (October 16, 2017). But now former White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon has been served with a cease-and-desist notice by the US President’s legal team.

Bannon is accused of defaming Trump in a soon-to-be released collection of interviews conducted by author Michael Wolff.

In the tell-all book, Bannon says Trump was unprepared for the role of president. Trump was quick to respond, releasing an official White House statement in which he claimed his former employee had "lost his mind."

First Lady Melania Trump also got a mention in the book. She is said to have "seemed on the verge of tears" at her husband's inauguration. Her office dismissed the claim as "fiction".
