Vienna waltzes into 2018Comments
Playing to a packed house in the Austrian capital, the Vienna Philharmonic welcomed 2018 with its annual New Year's Day concert.
Under the baton of Italian conductor Riccardo Muti, the orchestra kept to its tradition of offering a lively light-hearted programme that includes pieces from the Strauss family.
The New Year concert is broadcast to around 90 countries and reaches up to 50 million television viewers.
The concerts have been held in the Golden Hall of Vienna's Musikverein since 1939.
