Hundreds of frustrated passengers were stranded at London Stansted Airport on Wednesday night because of 'adverse weather'

Hundreds of passengers spent Wednesday night (December 27) stranded at London Stansted airport as flights were disrupted by snow and ice.

The airport runway was closed temporarily while the airfield was cleared because of the "adverse weather."

Some passengers say they had to sleep on baggage belts in the terminal.

Ryanair said on Thursday that flights were operating as scheduled with some minor knock-on delays.
