'Ronaldo is the best' - fellow players congratulate FIFA winner

Cristiano Ronaldo ….. the world’s best football player. That’s certainly what FIFA members decided for the second year running at their annual awards ceremony in London on Monday

Later Euronews caught up with three big names in the world of football at the annual sports media summit in Monaco to get their reaction.

Portugal’s Luis Figo, former Real Madrid and Barcelona:

“Congratulations to all the winners at the FIFA event because those are certainly important prizes they’ve won and show the hard work done by all who were awarded something during the ceremony. And once again we have to congratulate Cristiano. It’s not easy to win year after year all those trophies and titles. I’m happy for him.”

Brazil’s Sonny Anderson, former Barcelona and Olympique Lyonnais:

“He deserved it because of everything that Cristiano has done for football. When we think Cristiano is finished he comes back and scores more goals. Recently after five games without playing he still scored on his return. He’s an exceptional player and deserves to be considered the best player in the world “.

And Christian Karembeu, former World Champion with French National team. He used too used to play for Real Madrid:

“ “He greatly deserves it. He’s scored a lot of goals, he’s beaten all the records… he was Champion of Europe … I hope everything continues to be ok at Real Madrid and the team can keep winning with Cristiano Ronaldo .
