Mexico’s deadly earthquake on Tuesday happened 32 years to the day since another devastating tremor hit the country, killing more than 10,000 people.

This week’s 7.1-magnitude quake was the deadliest since the 1985 disaster.

It was reported that it struck just hours after emergency drills to mark the anniversary of the mid-80s earthquake took place.

It came less than two weeks since an earthquake in southern Mexico killed nearly 100 people.
