“This is a large fire and has produced a lot of smoke in the air. As a precaution, local residents are advised to keep their windows and doors closed.” said station manager Sam Kazmanli.

The blaze was about a mile away from Premier League football team Tottenham Hotspur’s former ground, White Hart Lane.

London Ambulance Service confirmed that one person had been taken to hospital with burns, although the injuries weren’t thought to be serious.

Fire investigators said the cause of the blaze was still under investigation.
