Sonka soars to victory

Czech pilot Martin Sonka beat Canada’s Pete McLeod and Australia’s Matt Hall to win the Portugal leg of the Air Race World championship.
A record 600,000 people watched the race at Porto.

Sonka flew the perfect round to take his second win of the season clocking up a time of 1 minute 7.229 seconds.
With just two races remaining, the result sees Sonka four points clear at the top of the standings on 54 points ahead of McLeod.
They are all now headed to Lausitz in Germany for race seven which takes place September 15 and 16.
