Afghan police have confirmed the explosion has killed at least one person and injured many others.
The explosion occurred on a busy shopping street near the heavily-fortified US embassy around 10am.
This latest explosion comes a week after United States President Donald Trump committed American soldiers to Afghanistan indefinitely.
