British Airways cancels flights amid global I.T. system failure

British Airways has cancelled all flights from Heathrow, Gatwick before 18:00 local time amid a global IT system outage.

“We have experienced a major IT system failure that is causing very severe disruption to our flight operationsworldwide,” the airline said in a statement.

Passengers have been told not to travel to the London airports due to ‘extreme congestion’ as planes remain grounded.

BA said that there was ‘no evidence’ that the worldwide system breakdown had been caused by a cyber attack.
