British fencer Richard Kruse has struck gold at the Grand Prix event in Shanghai.
After the women stole the spotlight on Saturday it was the turn of the men on Sunday to dazzle at the Fencing Grand Prix in Shanghai.
The third top-level meeting of the season saw victory in the Mens’ Foil go to Britain’s Richard Kruse, with European fencers, like yesterday, again freezing the rest of the field out of all the top spots.
Kruse had a close battle against France’s Erwan Le Pechoux, only scraping through 15-13
after a spirited display from the four-times world champion.
Kruse then had to face Italy’s Alessio Foconi in the final, but it was a far easier affair, with the 15-8 scoreline a fair reflection of the Englishman’s dominance.
