Leonardo da Vinci’s unfinished masterpiece, ‘Adoration of the Magi’, has been returned to Florence’s Uffizi Gallery, where it will be on display until September, 2017.
Experts say the painting has gained new light and depth.
“Not only has this painting regained several additional figures that were not visible before, it also has regained a spatial depth, it does not seem to be a relief anymore with a small surface, we really see figures on the foreground, figures in the middle ground, figures in the background, and with all of this we see the liveliness of not just one action, but of numerous actions that are combined with one another,” said Eike Schmidt, the Director of the Uffizi Gallery.

The work, representing Mary and the infant Jesus surrounded by visitors, was painted in the late 15th century (1481-82), but Da Vinci left it unfinished when he moved from Florence to Milan.
