Some retirees outside of Boston are knitting sweaters for local chickens as winter worsens
These chickens are being kept warm this winter thanks to the knitting club at a retirement home in Milton, Massachusetts.
Birds at a neighboring estate are benefiting from the club’s endeavor. While some breeds of chicken shed their feathers and grow new plummage during the winter, others originating in more tropical are not suited for the frigid winters of the American northeast.
Estate spokeswoman Erica Max says they’ve experienced an increase in egg production since the program began.
