Funerals have been held for four Israeli soldiers killed in Jerusalem after a Palestinian driver ploughed his truck into them.

The women and a man, three of whom were cadets, were all in their early twenties.

17 others were also wounded in Sunday’s incident which took place at a popular tourist spot overlooking Jerusalem’s old city.

The 28-year-old Palestinian driver who police have identified as Fadi Qunbar was shot dead at the scene by other soldiers.

Israel’s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said Qunbar was an ISIL sympathiser, though the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine has refuted this.

The attack, the deadliest in months, comes after a lull in recent violence between Palestinians and Israelis.
