Robert Marchand cycled his way into the record books on Wednesday.

The Frenchman cycled 22.547km in one hour at the national velodrome in the suburbs of Paris setting the mark in a new category for riders over 105-years-old.

Born in 1911 in northern France Marchand already holds the record for those aged over 100 when he registered 26.927km in 2012.

The current men’s hour record is held by the recently retired and recently knighted Sir Bradley Wiggins who clocked 54.526km in June 2015.
