A Goa to Mumbai flight has veered off the runway at Dabolim airport while readying for take-off with 161 people on board, injuring 15.

The accident took place at 5am local time as the plane, inbound from Dubai, was preparing to complete its journey. Eyewitnesses say the plane span 360 degrees before tilting violently forwards. The loss of balance reportedly triggered panic on board.

Plane operator Jet Airways says all passengers were evacuated safely. No reason has been given yet for the cause of the accident, but the airport had to be closed for more than seven hours while salvage teams cleared the runway.
