The United States are the masters of golf after an assured victory over Europe in the Ryder Cup at the Hazeltine National in Minnesota.

It was a confident performance much of it due to the diligence of captain Davis Love and his backroom staff.

Patrick Reed and Rory McIlroy got things underway on the final day and the stunning golf added to the hysteria.

Swede Henrik Stenson got Europe back into the contest beating Jordan Spieth 3&2.

More good news for Europe when Belgian rookie Thomas Pieters got the better of JB Holmes 3&2, the Belgian picked up four wins in Minnesota.

As the evening wore on Europe’s hopes faded and it was left to Ryan Moore to hammer the final nail into the coffin for the US to win the Ryder Cup 17-11, its second victory in 16 years.
