Brazil’s suspended president Dilma Rouseff defended herself before the senate on Monday (August 29) at the impeachment trial which sees her accused of breaking budget laws to hide the country’s deficit.

Senators will question Rousseff before voting this week whether or not to remove her from office. She denies the allegations, comparing the situation to a coup d’etat.
