Serbia’s Novak Djokovic will begin the defence of his US Open crown with a tricky first-round encounter with Poland’s Jerzy Janowicz.

The World number one, who has been bothered by a wrist injury, will be looking to bounce back from his third round exit at Wimbledon and his disappointing performance against Juan Martin del Potro in Rio.

Elsewhere Andy Murray will take on Lukas Rosol in the first round. Should the Scot reach the showpiece match, he would join Rod Laver, Federer and Djokovic in becoming the only men to advance to the final of every major in a season.
