Australia's athletes have finally moved into the Olympic Village in Rio after work was carried out to remedy blocked toilets, leaky pipes and exposed electrical wiring.

Australia’s athletes have returned to the Olympic Village in Rio.

Two days previously the team arrived at the accommodation and walked straight out again, condemning the tower blocks as uninhabitable.

The roos’ loos were blocked, the pipes leaky and wiring exposed.

Upon arrival the team’s delegation carried out stress tests to see if the plumbing and electricity were functional.

Water began to cascade down the walls and the lightning was considered inadequate in the stairwells.

The team then went in search of alternative accommodation.

Rio Mayor Eduardo Paes, who has repeatedly found himself on the defensive over Olympic conditions, quipped he should perhaps put “a kangaroo in front of their building to make them feel at home”.

Problems solved the Aussies are now back in the swag.
