Images have emerged of an elaborate network of tunnels under the streets of Naples, used by jewelry thieves to target high-end shops such as Bulgari.

The tunnels, which connect to the Italian city’s sewers, were discovered when three thieves were caught red handed by police, who dragged them out of the underground network in handcuffs.

Details of the thieves’ scheme have been examined in a seven-month investigation, which concluded with charges of aggravated robbery being brought against six alleged gang members.
