Hundreds of Shandong Luneng supporters gathered at Jinan airport on Tuesday afternoon to welcome their club’s latest signing – former Southampton forward Graziano Pelle.

The 30 year-old, who was Italy’s first-choice striker at the recent European Championship, joined the Saints from Dutch side Feyenoord in the summer of 2014, and went on to make 81 appearances, scoring 30 goals.

Graziano Pelle is likely to partner another former Premier League player, Papiss Cisse, in attack. The 31-year-old scored 44 goals in 131 appearances in four-and-a-half years with Newcastle.

Shandong, who are managed by Germany’s Felix Magath are currently ranked second from the bottom in the table.
