The day turned into disaster for two former champions Vincenzo Nibali (Astana) lost any hope of a final overall victory in Paris, while Spain’s Alberto Contador lost more time on his main rivals.
The stage belonged to Greg Van Avermaet (BMC) who produced a superb solo performance and rode victoriously into Le Lioran in front of an exhausted peloton.
