China's Huawei is suing South Korea's Samsung for compensation over alleged unlicensed use of its technology.

Huawei is suing in the United States and China, seeking compensation claiming unlicensed 4G phone communications technology, operating systems and user interface software was used in Samsung phones.
The law suit comes after the two failed to reach a licensing deal over the technology.
Samsung said it would review the complaint and take appropriate action to defend its business interests.

This is the latest in a series of patent lawsuits, most notably between Samsung and Apple.
In the past China firms have often been on the receiving end of patent infringement actions.
Last year Xiaomi was forced to briefly halt sales of handsets in India after a patent infringement complaint from telecom equipment maker Ericsson.
Samsung used to be the biggest smartphone vendor but has been leapfrogged by local brands and losing market share to late-comer Apple. It is now ranked sixth by sales, trailing Huawei, OPPO, Vivo, Apple and Xiaomi.
