The Democratic Republic of Congo has been remembering its favourite son, Papa Wemba, who has been buried in Kinshasa.
ADVERTISEMENTA private ceremony was held for the musical superstar, and large crowds gathered outside Notre Dame cathedral. Papa Wemba collapsed on stage and died last week aged 66.
A highly influential artist, he worked with among others Stevie Wonder and Peter Gabriel. He was the first African artist whose sales earned him a Gold record.
