Ex-Communist camp commander jailed for crimes against humanity

The ex-commander of a Communist-era Labour camp in Romania has been jailed for 20 years for ‘crimes against humanity’.

The camp run by 88-year old Ioan Fishur, in the late 1950s and early 60s, was known for its particularly brutal treatment of political prisoners.
