Turkey’s most successful football club Galatasaray have been banned from European competition for one year after breaching UEFA’s financial Fair Play

Turkey’s most successful football club Galatasaray have been banned from European competition for one year after breaching UEFA’s financial Fair Play rules.

The 20-times Turkish champions failed to meet the governing body’s break-even requirements for the 2015-16 season.

In 2014, UEFA fined Galatasaray 200,000 euros and required the club to break even over a three-year period.

The Istanbul side who boast Wesley Sneijder and Lukas Podolski in its ranks will now be excluded from featuring in the next continental competition they qualify for over the next two seasons.

They are currently fifth in the domestic league.
