Bad weather seemed poised to steal the headlines on Saturday in the Sweden Rally but Sebastien Ogier stormed ahead for Volkswagen although only five stages were run.

The Frenchman continued to make the pace, ahead of New Zealand’s Hayden Paddon in a Hyundai. Norway’s Mads Ostberg was 42 seconds behind Ogier in third place.

Only 12 out of the schedule 21 stages have survived cancellations and with Sunday’s opening stage dropped there is only a short Power Stage before the rally ends.

But it’s already the end of the road for Frenchman Eric Camilli who rolled his Ford Fiesta out of the stage and into retirement.
