Hundreds of Italian police officers have been chasing the drivers of a yellow Audi RS4 for more than a week without success.

The driver and occupants of the Swiss-registered car have outmanoeuvered police at speeds of up to 300 km an hour despite checkpoints, a police helicopter, and members of the Carabinieri becoming involved in the chase.

On one occasion, the criminals escaped from armed officers by driving in reverse at speeds of about 150 kilometers an hour.

Dramatic CCTV footage" shows the yellow Audi fleeing against the flow of traffic along a motorway.

Police say they want to talk to three young people aged between 20 and 30 years of age in relation to speeding and other road traffic offences, including performing manoeuvers on the motorway and resisting arrest.
