The incident occurred when the vehicle burst into flames while near a furniture mall in Helan County, Yinchuan City. The injured were taken to hospital for treatment. The cause of the fire is being investigated.

There have been several serious bus fires in recent years in China, some blamed on people who are mentally unstable or who are seeking revenge against society.
