A $360 million US warship broke down as it headed from the shipyard to its home port.

The USS Milwaukee was heading to San Diego from Milwaukee when particles of metal in an oil filter caused it to break down. It was towed to a nearby base.

The ship, which launched three weeks ago, was designed to work near the shore to head off threats from small, fast boats or submarines.
