  • Explosives traces found in car – police
  • No details confirmed yet
  • City and region still on full alert

Two men have been arrested in central Geneva, according to Swiss media, who say traces of explosives have been found in the car they were travelling in.

The men are described as being of Syrian origin.

Police have not confirmed any details of the report, which is being quoted by international news agencies.

It comes a day after the security alert in the Swiss city was raised to its highest level.

Police said they were looking for four men connected to last month’s Paris attacks and believed them to be in Geneva or the surrounding region.

A further two men were thought to have come over the border from France in a lorry.

The number of officers on the streets was immediately increased.

There was a flurry of security alerts in the city after the new broke.
