In the second day of the Qingdao judo Grand Prix in China, Junxia Yang took a win for the home country in the final of the womens’ under 63 kilos category, beating Turkey’s Busra Katipoglu. Yang concluded the match with beautiful piece of groundwork, concluding with an immobilisation for ippon.

Women
Croatia’s Barbara Matic beat Germany’s Iljana Marzok to claim the number 1 spot in the womens’ under 70 kilos category. Matic, who quickly took control of the fight, had not been the favourite for this event. World Champion Gevrise Emane of France had been expected to win, but she fell in her first bout.

Men
In the mens’ under 73 kilo category, one of the most crowded categories, there was a shock defeat for world number one and winner of the Baku Grand Slam, Rustam Orujov of Azerbaijian. Orujov was roundly beaten by Japan’s Soichi Hashimoto.

Men
In the mens’ under 81 kilos, the most crowded category in the competition, Korea’s Wang Ki-Chun beat Japan’s Goki Maruyama.
Both athletes pulled off some spectacular moves in a match that was nail-biting to the last.
