At the World Travel Market 2015 in London, the leading event for the global travel industry, euronews spoke to Bulgaria’s Tourism Minister Nikolina Angelkova about how her country’s tourism strategy focuses on promoting more than just golden beaches.
Our main target is Bulgaria to become a year-round destination and among the top destinations in Europe. We have all the potential but our big challenge is the brand-awareness, to create our brand, to be recognizable by all. And following this we are aiming to target our main markets, which are part of our neighbors due to connectivity issues, Greece, Turkey, Romania, Serbia and Macedonia. Our main markets are Germany, the UK, France, Russia not to forget although the geopolitical situation is not very favorable for tourism, also Poland, Czech Republic. Europe is one of the main markets but our prospective markets are Asia. There we work together with our European partners and friends to offer common regional products. I think the best and successful formula.
