The search has been called off for the missing crew of an American cargo ship that sank off the Bahamas last week after sailing into the path of Hurricane Joaquin.
All 33 crew are feared dead in what’s been described as the worst cargo shipping disaster involving a US-flagged vessel in more than 30 years.
Only one body had been recovered.
The owners of El Faro, Tote Maritime Puerto Rico, believe it sunk last Thursday after suffering engine failure during its weekly run from Jacksonville to San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The Coast Guard suspended the search for the crew of the #ElFaro, a cargo ship lost in Hurricane #Joaquin. http://t.co/lbB4uVvHM2
