Jeremy Flores of France has won the Pro Tahiti tournament defeating the reigning World Surf League champion Gabriel Medina in the final.

It was the Frenchman’s second major victory, his first being in 2010, and pushed him up five places to seventh on the championship leaderboard.

Brazilian Adriano de Souza leads the title race ahead of Australian trio Mick Fanning, Owen Wright and Julian Wilson.

The next event will be at Lower Trestles in California from September 9-20.
