Britain’s Gary Hunt had a rare off day when he failed to take home a medal at the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series event in Mostar in Bosnia Herzegovina.
Despite finishing fifth, the points he picked up permitted him to win his fifth world title.
Mexico’s Sergio Guzman, a wildcard entry finished in second.
David Colturi of the United States took the bronze medal.
But the best diver of the day was Jonathan Paredes.
The Mexican wowed the crowd, but he revealed after winning the gold that his nerves got the better of him and he was sick before the first of his 27 metre jumps.
The final two contests of the season will be on September 13 in Polignano a Mare in Italy followed by one final dive in the northern Spanish city of Bilbao on September 26.
