Messi, Suarez and Ronaldo shortlisted for Best Player in Europe Award

Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Cristiano Ronaldo are the finalists for the UEFA Best Player in Europe Award 2014/2015.
The La Liga trio topped a Europe-wide poll of journalists from each of UEFA’s 54 member associations
Messi is odds on favourite to win the award.
He was instrumental in Barcelona’s treble-winning season scoring 58 goals in all competitions for the Catalan giants.
He is hoping to win the award for a second time after 2011.
He is up against Barca teammate Suarez who was also a key contributor to his club’s success – notably in the second half of the season following his return from his biting ban.
Last year’s winner Ronaldo ended the campaign with a league leading 48 goals and a staggering 61 in all competitions.
Despite his stellar season Real Madrid failed to win a single trophy.
Both Ronaldo and Messi also reached a record 77 career Champions League goals last term.
The winner will be announced on August 27 in Monaco at the same time as the Champions League draw.
